This Uncle Tom Labeling

Oh, the folks who are into labeling black people Uncle Toms for not seeing things through race as they see them! Alabama State Representative, Alvin Holmes  is one of those folks. This man holds a B.S., M. Ed, M.A., and a LL.D degree; therefore, one would be surprised by his narrow racist thinking that caused him to call and defend his statement that Supreme Court Justice, Clarence Thomas is an Uncle Tom. He also did not like the fact that Justice Thomas married a white woman.

Rep. Holmes sounds so ridiculous! I am so thankful I escaped out of group black think. It is obvious that Rep. Holmes is very entrenched in group black think with roots growing down to the core of the earth.Josiah P Henson and wife Hey, it is the human race and not viewing life through the tunnel vision of a particular race. Again, I must say that calling someone an Uncle Tom is really a compliment.

It surprises me how people do not know that Harriet Beecher Stowe based the Uncle Tom character in her Uncle Tom’s Cabin on Josiah P. Henson. Mr. Henson was born a slave who escaped to Canada and led hundreds upon hundreds of slaves to their wonderful freedom through the underground railroad. He was a Methodist minister and started a settlement house called the Dawn Institute in Canada which taught trades to people who had escaped enslavement. Read more here. So if you are ready to label someone an Uncle Tom, know that you are really complementing that person.

My Talk Radio Programs

Microphone_talk radioMy talk radio listening keeps evolving. There was a time when I could listen to one entire talker program on the liberal side. This was a local based talk show on Philly’s one and only urban talk radio station. The radio talk host is a liberal/lefty but he was a consummate professional. He had a chat room going while he program was on the air. He was always polite and respectful while disagreeing with my growing right-wing comments. He gave up his radio talk show to accept a reporter gig on TV program, Chasing New Jersey.

The station has one syndicated liberal/left talker, Al Sharpton. I now have a hard time listening to him for more than five minutes. I use to be able to put up with him for about 45 minutes. In my birth and growth as a conservative, I am about seven and half years along and now wondering as a thinking adult, how did I stay in the liberal/lefty camp for over thirty years of my life.

There are so many local and syndicated right-wing radio talkers these days. I find myself listening to some for a while and then turn to their competition for a while. I listen to the syndicated talkers such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Laura Ingraham. I listen to local Philly talk folks such as Dom Giordano and Fox News exile, Dick Morris. I listen online to local talker, James T. Harris, because his program is on in Tuscon, Arizona. I listen online to other radio talkers, such as Herman Cain, Brian Kilmeade and delayed Mark Levin programs.

New to my regular online listening is Christian talk programming, such as Janet Parshall’s In the Market Place and Steve Deace. I really like Steve Deace. He use to be on a local Philly talk  station at his 9 P. M. broadcast time. I do not like that the station bumped him to 3 A. M., so I listen to him online. Mr. Deace discusses the political, social and cultural through a biblical world view.

I am participating in Steve Deace’s weekly (Republican) Candidate Survivor Island in where you vote for the possible Republican presidential candidates that you do not want to see as the 2016 Republican presidential candidate and eventually the next President. So far participants voted Gov. Chris Christie, Rep. Peter King, Jeb Bush and Haley Barbour off the Island. This evening I cast my vote for Donald Trump to be the next to go. If you want to participate, go here. You will have to give your name, email address and answer a few more questions, before you get to the page with the candidates’ names. You will have until next Monday in the afternoon to cast your vote and you will hear Mr. Deace announce who got the boot on his program later that evening or read it on his Facebook page or on Twitter.

I enjoy listening to the various individuals on the right. I do not  agree with them one hundred percent, but I find myself not agreeing with anything I hear coming from liberal lefties. This is a strong indication that I am really maturing in my right-wing thinking.

Hiatus Over and Blogging Again

It is time to get back to the business of blogging. This blog has been on hiatus for about 2 months. During that time for almost 4 weeks, I was without any Internet connection at home. I am working with a less expensive Internet connection for the time being; therefore, Blog_Green KeyI am dealing with slow loading of pages with many images and buffeting video clips.

In returning to the political and cultural, so much has been and is going on such as, the Republican attempts to defund the Affordable Care Act led by Sen. Ted Cruz, the Republican infighting, the partial government shutdown with its protests and the strong possibility that the United States can go into default this Thursday appear to be hurting the Republicans while positively affecting the Democrats. I hear Sean Hannity talk about how the government shutdown during the Clinton years did not hurt the Republicans. He was right. I was a Democrat back then, and it did upset me when the Republicans maintained their majority in both Houses of Congress in the following national election. But now, political thinking is skewing more and more to the left. Did not leftist, Barack Obama win a 2nd term as President? I hate to see what will happen to this country if the Democrats get control of both Houses of Congress.

In returning to the subject of blogging, during my hiatus I was going to add a Christian page to this blog. Well, I changed my mind. I will be starting a new Christian based blog. My Sunday music posts are gone from this blog and will be on my new Christian blog to hopefully be up and running in a few days. I am glad to be back and hope you will return to reading this blog and will spend some time checking out my new blog.

A Little But Important Bit From Hannity’s 2nd Black Conservative Show

I watched Sean Hannity’s second Black Conservative program tonight. I liked what I heard throughout the program. The expressed thoughts of Meeke Addison particularly affected me on a biblical level. My Democrat party family member who did not vote to reelect the Pres. last November totally agrees with the point made by Mrs. Addison. Listen to her on folks reelecting Barack Obama to a second term. The man speaking after her is her husband. Please take note that the audio quality is not the best, but Mrs. Addison’s and her husband’s comments are well worth the listen.

Addendum: The video I first posted was removed from YouTube, so I replaced it with one of better audio quality, but it only has the comments of Meeke Addison.

Post Election Thoughts on The Republicans and Democrats.

Well, starting with my Sunday Veterans Day post,  it has been about 2 months since my last post. I did not mean to take this long of a hiatus from blogging, but I did. I had a gut feeling that Mitt Romney was not going to win the presidential election, but did get my hopes up a little seeing such large enthusiastic crowds at the Romney rallies. The pundits on the right got it so wrong. For example, Glenn Beck predicted over 300 electoral vote victory for Romney.  How wrong was that? I knew not to get excited over Dick Morris’s landslide prediction for Mr. Romney. His wrong predictions extremely outweigh his correct ones.

People everywhere are saying that the Republican Party is in shambles and needs to change. Radio talker and libertarian minded, but Republican voter Neal Boortz does not like the social issues wing of the Republican Party. He along with so many others blame that wing for pushing the anti-abortion stand. Then there are those who point to the Republican Party being anti-gay and anti-immigration.

Please, Republicans Party do not change your platform on issues that will turn you into a democratic lite political party. It is fine with me that the Republican Party is anti-abortion, pro traditional family and anti-illegal immigration.

The Democrats are really not about personal responsibility. That phony “War on Women” proves it. The real “War on Women” is in the Islamic Middle East and it is showing up in countries of Islamic immigration.  Late last summer at the Democratic Presidential Convention, I found it awful that even the First Lady, Michelle Obama emphasized a woman’s right to free birth control and the right to choose which is really the right to abort/kill unborn babies, all at taxpayers’ expense. It saddens me to see that so many women in this country agree with the First Lady. God help us if the Republicans go that direction.

The Democrat Party is officially pro gay everything. They are behind the gay lifestyle being taught in public schools. I cannot go with that. Single as I am, I am pro traditional marriage and traditional family. The pro-illegal immigration does have some Republican backers. The latest to join that side is conservative radio talker and TV host, Sean Hannity. I do admit I think something should be done only for children brought here by their illegal immigrating parents. That does not include giving them  instate college tuition rates or types of privileges that put them ahead of citizens in this country.

I am seeing too many Republicans giving up. Some of my Facebook friends have gone to posting pictures of cutesy animals in place of hard-hitting pro Republican and conservative news links. Not me! As a former Democrat, I remember when the Democratic Party went through similar tough times. They did not give up. They did not become Republican lite. In fact, they went further left and now we have Barack Obama for a 2nd term. Yes, Republicans need to evaluate what went right and wrong and then positively move on to push conservative ideas for future victories.
