Pres. Obama’s Dream of Illegal Immigrants

Glenn McCoy_O dreamIllegalsGlenn McCoy Cartoon

Yes, Pres. Obama must be dreaming about legalizing those who are in this country due to unlawfully crossing this country’s borders as future voting citizens. Of course they will be registering and voting Democratic. It is such a sweet dream to the Pres., because that will be the last nail (along with conservatives angry with the Republican Party holding back their votes) in the coffin of the Republican Party. The Democrats will run the country unfettered.

Legalizing the illegals is not just a Democrat thing. There were and are Republicans that are for making illegals citizens of this country. I remember Republican Senator, John McCain coming together with the late Democratic Senator, Edward Kennedy on a bill that never made it to law to legalize the illegal immigrants. I remember George W. Bush was all for it as President and I also remember former Republican Senator, Trent Lott saying to the effect (paraphrasing) that people of this country need to see legalizing these immigrants as a good thing.

There are employers of  who are Democrats and Republicans who are already employing illegal immigrants. After all, they are cheap labor. And they want to keep it that way. With the job situation not getting any better in this country, do we need legalized illegals competing along side everybody else looking for a job?

I am for doing something for the children brought here by their illegal border crossing parents. I am all for giving them a path to citizenship, but that path starts  at the end of the line. They can go to college here, but not at the in state tuition rate until they become full citizens. The illegal crossing parents get no path until they answer for their law breaking and then they can get in back of the line behind their children.

Post Election Thoughts on The Republicans and Democrats.

Well, starting with my Sunday Veterans Day post,  it has been about 2 months since my last post. I did not mean to take this long of a hiatus from blogging, but I did. I had a gut feeling that Mitt Romney was not going to win the presidential election, but did get my hopes up a little seeing such large enthusiastic crowds at the Romney rallies. The pundits on the right got it so wrong. For example, Glenn Beck predicted over 300 electoral vote victory for Romney.  How wrong was that? I knew not to get excited over Dick Morris’s landslide prediction for Mr. Romney. His wrong predictions extremely outweigh his correct ones.

People everywhere are saying that the Republican Party is in shambles and needs to change. Radio talker and libertarian minded, but Republican voter Neal Boortz does not like the social issues wing of the Republican Party. He along with so many others blame that wing for pushing the anti-abortion stand. Then there are those who point to the Republican Party being anti-gay and anti-immigration.

Please, Republicans Party do not change your platform on issues that will turn you into a democratic lite political party. It is fine with me that the Republican Party is anti-abortion, pro traditional family and anti-illegal immigration.

The Democrats are really not about personal responsibility. That phony “War on Women” proves it. The real “War on Women” is in the Islamic Middle East and it is showing up in countries of Islamic immigration.  Late last summer at the Democratic Presidential Convention, I found it awful that even the First Lady, Michelle Obama emphasized a woman’s right to free birth control and the right to choose which is really the right to abort/kill unborn babies, all at taxpayers’ expense. It saddens me to see that so many women in this country agree with the First Lady. God help us if the Republicans go that direction.

The Democrat Party is officially pro gay everything. They are behind the gay lifestyle being taught in public schools. I cannot go with that. Single as I am, I am pro traditional marriage and traditional family. The pro-illegal immigration does have some Republican backers. The latest to join that side is conservative radio talker and TV host, Sean Hannity. I do admit I think something should be done only for children brought here by their illegal immigrating parents. That does not include giving them  instate college tuition rates or types of privileges that put them ahead of citizens in this country.

I am seeing too many Republicans giving up. Some of my Facebook friends have gone to posting pictures of cutesy animals in place of hard-hitting pro Republican and conservative news links. Not me! As a former Democrat, I remember when the Democratic Party went through similar tough times. They did not give up. They did not become Republican lite. In fact, they went further left and now we have Barack Obama for a 2nd term. Yes, Republicans need to evaluate what went right and wrong and then positively move on to push conservative ideas for future victories.

Welcoming Illegal Immigrants on the Democratic Side.

Gary McCoy Cartoon

I previously stated that some Republicans who are for allowing illegal immigrants to remain in this country are into cheap labor. This editorial cartoon from September, 2010 is still true today of the Pres. and the Democrats who support making U. S. citizens of illegal immigrants.

Pro/Con on Illegal Immigrants Sentiments.

I find it interesting that you can find pro/con sentiments for illegal immigrants on both the Republican and Democratic side. I remember former Pres. George W. Bush the Republican leadership in Congress were for allowing a path to citizenship while illegals were still illegal. Democrats in Congress just wanted to make the illegals legal (Yes, I do remember when former Pres., the late Ronald Reagan made illegals legal). I think the pro path to citizenship for illegals to become legal in some way on the Republican side has much to do with acquiring cheap labor. On the Democratic side, I think it is about acquiring a new bloc of voters.

I hear opinions from everyday working folks from both political parties expressing pro and con sides. From people close to me, one who is a Democrat views the illegals as undocumented persons who we should welcome into this country. Another who is also a Democrat feels those who illegally enter this country should be sent back. This person cannot understand why there is any sympathy for the Latinos sneaking into this country when during the Clinton administration, blacks from Haiti and other Caribbean countries tried to enter this country without going through the proper procedures and were immediately put on a boat to were they came from (as oppose to those escaping Cuba). Yes, this person views it through the racial prism, because there was no national or political party supportive cry for the Caribbean blacks like there is for the Latinos entering this country illegally.

I try to tell this person that blacks from south of the U. S. border have also entered the United States Illegally. Our border along the country of Mexico, is not protected  like our shores. It is easier to sneak across. We must also realize that other immigrants become illegal when they over stay their visas and do not keep up with other related paperwork. Well in any case, the illegal immigration problem will not be solved anytime soon, but we can start by first securing the border along Mexico to stop those from sneaking into the United States.  I feel this is a Republican issue. I do not hear too man Democratic leaders being pro border security. And on that note I leave you with this piece of news.

The I-Word

The Diversity Committee of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) wants all reporters across this country to cease with the descriptor, illegal immigrant in news coverage. There are other efforts such as the educational campaign of immigrants and contrasted communities to drop what they call the I-word. Well if adults willingly violated this country’s immigration laws to enter or remain in the United States, the illegal descriptor should continue to stand. The descriptor, undocumented does not fly with me. I will not be dropping the I-Word. Illegal is not undocumented, it is illegal.

I do have sympathy for the children/minors brought into this country illegally. They are here through no fault of their own. Their parents are to blame for their unfortunate illegal status. Children/minors are the only illegal grouping that should get some consideration for obtaining legal status. I am not for the minors who are now of college age getting in-state tuition. That should come sometime after they are truly legal in this country.

This video is a few years old, but what you hear is still prevalent among the pro illegal crowd from south of the border.
