Today, Good Friday is the day designated for Christians to give special observance to the death Jesus Christ (he later arose). This is when the precious Lord Jesus took the punishments for all that we do wrong i.e. sins against God. II Corinthians 5:21 – For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Two criminals suffered the crucifixion death along our Lord and Savior. One of the criminals said that he deserved his punishment, but not Jesus Christ. He asked the Son of God to remember him to His Father. Then Lord Jesus responded that he would be with him in paradise – Luke 23: 39-43 I hope you see that this criminal acknowledged his own wrong doing, and the belief that Jesus Christ was Divine and the Savior. Notice the Lord did not condemn the criminal. The criminal experienced salvation that gives eternal life with the Lord. John 14:6 – I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. This criminal is an example of acknowledgement of one’s own sin (no human being is sinless), acknowledging Jesus Christ as the only Savior and receiving eternal salvation through Him. Acts 4:12 – Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
