The Westboro Baptist Church whose membership comes from family and relatives is hardly representative of the Baptist denomination. The church is often in the news for protesting funerals of Soldiers killed in battle. They claim it is God’s punishment for this country’s acceptance of homosexuality and that they feel they must drive that point through protest and message that the deceased soldier got what he/she deserved as part of God’s punishment. Of course, that is sick to say the lease!
There are constitutional rights to freedom of speech and freedom to protest as Fox News’ Megyn Kelly argued from the legal perspective (she is an attorney) on the O’Reilly Factor. But really, what Westboro is doing, makes a mockery of those freedoms. In the video, learn how the folks from a Missouri town were a complete success in keeping Westboro from doing what they do at a soldier’s funeral.
