I previously stated that some Republicans who are for allowing illegal immigrants to remain in this country are into cheap labor. This editorial cartoon from September, 2010 is still true today of the Pres. and the Democrats who support making U. S. citizens of illegal immigrants.

I am not of the belief that if you are not Republican, you are not Christian or the right kind of Christian. My Christian parents were Democrats (one living still is) and I am the only Republican in a household of voting Christians. I have family, relatives and friends who really take offense to being viewed as pseudo Christians, because they are Democrats. Within my family/friend circle, there is a person who loved the late Rev. Jerry Falwell. This person thought he was an excellent preacher, but separated from him politically.

Although it appears to me that Jefferson Bethke is associating religion with Republican Christians in general with which I do not agree, I am totally with  Mr. Bethke on religion vs. the  Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Awesome! God Bless Him!

Mitt Romney who previously came out of these debate not the absolute victor, but untouched, came across rather weakened. I am comfortable in my feeling that Ron Paul will be the Republican challenger to Pres. Obama in the fall. Rick Perry has improved in these debates. I like Rick Santorum, but I include him and Mr. Perry with Ron Paul in not getting the Republican presidential nomination.  

Newt’s response to Juan Williams’ question of his idea to allow poor children to earn money by cleaning school bathrooms, working in school offices or libraries and Pres. Obama being the Food Stamp President was the highlight of the debate.

When Mr. Gingrich initially came out with his thoughts on allowing poor children to work, I stated in a previous post my concerns about feeding into negative stereotypes. I also add during my child care years as a teacher and a director, I saw plenty of mothers get off welfare to work plus go to school or take on a 2nd job. With that said, I loved his response to Juan Williams. Mr. Gingrich is right on the money about Pres. Obama being the Food Stamp President. I loved all his responses in the debate.

Today is the national holiday to honor him. There is controversy on whether he was a communists or a socialist. I do not believe he was hardcore on either. From readings, I surmised that there were a few personal leanings that came across as socialist which were not based on political ideology but right vs wrong.  Listen to the following, especially if you are in the camp that believes MLK was firmly a communist or a socialist.

My recollection of Dr. Martin Luther King was one of taking a courageous stand against day by day racism and legal segregation. I remember the media reports of him spending time in jail for peaceful protests for rights for people of color that are so easily acquired today. I remember watching on TV former Democrat President Harry Truman calling Dr. King a trouble maker. When reporters reminded him that Dr. King had been given the Nobel Peace Prize, former President Truman’s response was, “I did not give it to him.” My mother and grandmother who were also watching TV with me were appalled at President Truman’s remarks. Harry Truman was not the only Democrat that thought MLK was a trouble maker.

Today, some will be spending a good portion of their day volunteering their services in honor of MLK. But there are folks who object to the volunteerism on the MLK holiday, because they see it as a day of getting free labor out of black people. They do not care if whites want to give free labor on this day. I think that is crazy. I see the volunteerism being done in the spirit of Martin Luther King’s volunteering to fight for those who denied full rights to live in this country.

Many conservatives are upset that they will end up with another conservative lite candidate, most likely at this early point being Mitt Romney as the Republican presidential challenger to Pres. Obama in the fall. It was Sen. John McCain the last time. It is more important to these people for the Republican candidate be a hardcore conservative than the possibility that Pres. Obama remains President for the next 4 years. I am in the 1 term Obama presidency camp. Who is more conservative is important, but not as important as making Pres. Obama a 1 termer.

The way the Republican presidential candidates are going after each other is not good at all. It was a bit different in 2008 when there were both Democratic and Republican presidential candidates during the early primary/caucus season. The spotlight glare is not as harsh on the candidates going after each other within both parties at the same time as it is when only one political party has the presidential challengers. The Democrats are sitting back watching, laughing and enjoying the Republicans eat their own. They are sure conservative purists will stay home on Nov. 6th or vote for some 3rd party candidate that cannot win if Mitt Romney becomes the Republican challenger to Barack Obama like they did with Sen. John McCain; thus, allowing a presidential reelection victory for Democrats.

On a related note, I would love to be wrong, but I am beginning to believe that a hardcore conservative can not win the Presidency. News reports are that Independents decided the last presidential election and will decide this one. They went for Barack Obama the last time. I do not think an Independent that went for the Pres. is going to vote for a Rick Santorum, Rick Perry or Newt Gingrich. Well, maybe Ron Paul (really a Libertarian), because he is for the decriminalization of drugs, pro isolationism and does not see Middle East Islam as any kind of threat to this country. Really, those of us on the conservative side must stop the public broadcast in-house bickering in order to see a presidential victory in November.
