Speaking Out on Being a Black Republican

It is time to resurrect this video again. The panelist, Rev. Wesley Leonard, Angela McGlowan, Lynn Swann and Michael Williams are excellent, but personally, I identify the most with Rev. Leonard in going conservative Republican.

The Limbaugh/Fluke Controversy and the Selective Outrage

People on the liberal left side are jubilant over Rush Limbaugh/Sandra Fluke controversy. He called the single Ms. Fluke a slut and a prostitute for speaking in favor of health care insurers providing free contraceptives before an unofficial congressional committee. I am hearing and reading  that he is toast! There are people out there partying over the groundswell that Mr. Limbaugh is experiencing in the loss of at least 26 sponsors and 2 dropped stations as of this posting.  He is talking replacement of departing sponsors.

I am not into personal attacks and name calling; therefore, I feel Mr. Limbaugh was “over the top”  wrong with the misogynist name calling, but he did apologize. If anything should happen to him, it should be a suspension like the one liberal, leftist Ed Schultz took for calling conservative talker, Laura Ingraham a slut on his radio program (he also apologized for going too far on Ms. Ingraham).

This selective outrage over Rush Limbaugh is all political and it is working in the affirmative for the Democratic liberal lefties. Mr. Limbaugh fell into their trap and they are positively spinning this controversy and gaining support which will lead to votes for a 2nd term for the Obama administration. I say selective, because where was this groundswell of outrage over Ed Schultz, Keith Olbermann for calling Michelle Malkin a mashed up bag of meat with lipstick and Bill Maher for calling Sarah Palin a cu#t and Michele Bachmann a tw%t among other names. Have you ever heard any apologies from Mr. Olbermann and Mr. Maher on their misogynist name calling? Read about leftist misogynist name callers from someone on their side here.

I conclude with one final thing on Sandra Fluke. She said on the TV program, The View that the contraceptive coverage that she desires does not take taxpayer money. This is true, but Ms Fluke a law student is looking for health care insurers  to provide free contraceptive coverage for college students.  Well, that means higher cost for insurers which then gets passed on higher coverage costs and cuts for you.

Our GOP Presidential Candidates

Republican presidential candidate, Rick Santorum had a clean sweep of  caucus and primary voting in Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado. With all the hoopla, the bottom line is obtaining the 1144 delegates needed to get the nomination. Mr. Santorum did not really get any delegates from his triple victory. I still feel Mr. Santorum is the 2012 version of former presidential candidate, Mike Huckabee and may go on to win some primaries but not get the Republican presidential nomination. If I am wrong, it will be a nice surprise.

At this point, if he makes it to the PA primary in April, he most likely will get my vote over Newt Gingrich. I also consider Mitt Romney for pragmatic reasons, because I still see problems with Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum winning against Pres. Obama. But then, Mr. Romney is losing some steam. I am not one of those on the right that ignores the left. Along with reading and listening to the Republican and conservative right punditry and comments, I also squeeze in some reading and listening to the Democratic, liberal left punditry and comments. That side would love for Mr. Gingrich or Mr. Santorum who they see as the flavor of the Republican month to be Pres. Obama’s opponent, because they feel either one of those candidates will make for an easy Democratic victory.

I continue to hear and read of Independents who are unhappy with the Pres. and are looking to what the Republicans have to offer and there is not much of a “wow” factor. Mitt Romney at the beginning of his campaign attracted Independents, but now he is losing them through his continuing efforts to prove his conservatism.

Let us face it, Newt Gingrich is a strong negative to some Republicans, and conservatives. He does not seem to attract Independent voters who are pretty much the deciders of who gets to be President these days. The Catholic Rick Santorum is revving up the conservative evangelical voter (count me as one), but along with the Independent voter there are many who vote Republican who do not particularly like conservative evangelicals, such as libertarian thinking Neal Boortz and do not want a resurgence of them dominating the Republican Party. Along with the very conservative Michael Savage, there are conservatives coming together with those on the liberal left in viewing Rick Santorum as sanctimonious.  They do not like candidates who are outspoken about living their lives from any kind of spiritual faith base.

If you are wondering about all of this in relation to Mitt Romney, well that is another post that would include the Mormon historical negative spiritual belief concerning black people, which has somewhat changed. But one has to wonder how the weight of that historical perspective colors his general views on non white people. Again, there is much distance between me and the Ron Paul supporter. His libertarian views in foreign policy are a very big negative to me. There is also the racial issue, but I have to look more into that situation, even though I do believe Rep. Paul knew of the negative generalizations of black people in his own newsletters. He is the last of the remaining Republican presidential candidates who would get my vote.

Oh, will we ever have another Ronald Reagan? By that, I mean a strong conservative candidate who coalesces Republicans and conservatives behind him and has Democrats and Independents voting Republican like he did! That is what we need or Pres. Obama just may get that 2nd term.

Pro/Con on Illegal Immigrants Sentiments.

I find it interesting that you can find pro/con sentiments for illegal immigrants on both the Republican and Democratic side. I remember former Pres. George W. Bush the Republican leadership in Congress were for allowing a path to citizenship while illegals were still illegal. Democrats in Congress just wanted to make the illegals legal (Yes, I do remember when former Pres., the late Ronald Reagan made illegals legal). I think the pro path to citizenship for illegals to become legal in some way on the Republican side has much to do with acquiring cheap labor. On the Democratic side, I think it is about acquiring a new bloc of voters.

I hear opinions from everyday working folks from both political parties expressing pro and con sides. From people close to me, one who is a Democrat views the illegals as undocumented persons who we should welcome into this country. Another who is also a Democrat feels those who illegally enter this country should be sent back. This person cannot understand why there is any sympathy for the Latinos sneaking into this country when during the Clinton administration, blacks from Haiti and other Caribbean countries tried to enter this country without going through the proper procedures and were immediately put on a boat to were they came from (as oppose to those escaping Cuba). Yes, this person views it through the racial prism, because there was no national or political party supportive cry for the Caribbean blacks like there is for the Latinos entering this country illegally.

I try to tell this person that blacks from south of the U. S. border have also entered the United States Illegally. Our border along the country of Mexico, is not protected  like our shores. It is easier to sneak across. We must also realize that other immigrants become illegal when they over stay their visas and do not keep up with other related paperwork. Well in any case, the illegal immigration problem will not be solved anytime soon, but we can start by first securing the border along Mexico to stop those from sneaking into the United States.  I feel this is a Republican issue. I do not hear too man Democratic leaders being pro border security. And on that note I leave you with this piece of news.

Thanking Our Veterans 2011: Support and Causes

On this Veterans Day, let us pause to give honor to those who have served our country in the armed forces. I am a great admirer of wounded veteran J. R. Martinez, who was on the defunct soap opera, All My Children and still dancing as of this post, on Dancing with the Stars. Mr. Martinez at 19 years of age suffered burns over 40% of his body when the Humvee he was driving hit a landmine in Iraq. The burns have altered his physical appearance, but, his facial scarring seems to evaporate after seeing him in action. He has such a contagious smile and an upbeat personality. God bless him.

Here are the veteran and burn causes that he supports:

A Harlem Patriot

You know how we are always hearing that the TEA Party is not exclusive to conservative Republicans. I have discovered such a person last week. She is Barbara from Harlem. I put a video feature of Barbara in my twitter updates and on my Facebook page last night. What a Patriot! I think liberal folks negatively and conservatives positively find her to be is an anomaly. If you did not see the video, Barbara is a registered Harlem Democrat, who is  a TEA Party darling. She is additional evidence that the TEA Party is not just made up of right-wing Republicans. Check out her website here. See a quick piece on her in action below.
